    What is Anesthesia Machine

    The anaesthetic machine or anesthesia machine is used by anaesthesiologists, nurse anaesthetists, and anaesthesiologist assistants to support the administration of anesthesia. It is designed to provide an accurate and continuous supply of medical gases (such as oxygen and nitrous oxide), mixed with an accurate concentration of anaesthetic vapour (such as isoflurane), and deliver this to the patient at a safe pressure and flow.

    Working Principle of Anesthesia Machine

    Anesthesia Machine takes medical gas from central gas distribution system or its cylinders. It regulates the pressure to desired level by using flowmeter and regulator. Then it adds volatile anesthetics to mixture by evaporating them. Its breathing circuit makes exhalation gasses get away.

    Basic Components of Anesthesia Machine

    Medical Gas Sources: Medical gases are produced to be used in diagnose and treatment. They're stored in tanks or tubes with certain pressure. Gas Regulators: Regulates the pressure of the gases so that they're given to patient with a safe pressure.
    Manometer: Meauses the pressure of the gas in a tank or tube.Normally a pressure is around 45-47 PSI
    Flowmeter: Adjust flow of gases in terms of ml/min or lt/min .
    Oxygen Valve: In case of leak, or emergency situations neccesity of oxygen is more than usual. Oxygen valve can provide 30-70 ml/min oxygen with 20-45 PSI pressure .
    Vaporizator: Produces gas solvent from volatile anesthetic agents.

    Respiratory Circuits

    Breathing circuit provides gas exchange between patient and machine .

    It's used in all anesthetic interventions.
